N2MUN welcomed everyone. All members and guests introduced themselves.

N2MUN introduced NYC/LI Section Manager George Tranos, N2GA. George welcomed everyone and stressed the importance of this meeting.

Frank Fallon, N2FF, ARRL Hudson Division Director thanked everyone for coming and described the attempts to pass a tower bill in NY State. Frank displayed a proclamation received from the state legislature thanking those who took part in 911. Several of the  people who took part were present, and were personally thanked by Frank. He said that it is efforts like this that help to get tower bills passed. N2FF said that letters need to be sent by all hams to representatives stressing the importance of PRB-1. Frank explained how a problem has developed on a national level regarding restrictions on towers and radio transmissions in general. He noted that Congressman Steve Israel has agreed to be a sponsor for legislation on this issue.

N2FF then introduced Congressman Steve Israel. Mr. Israel described problems his father, an amateur,  had putting up a tower in his community and how this led the congressman to draw up and introduce HR4720, which would give co-op and condo owners the rights they deserve to erect antennas. Congressman Israel emphasized that letters should be written to Senators to encourage them to sponsor this bill in the Senate.

A question and answer period followed. Mr. Israel then introduced Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone, who stressed the importance of ham radio in the community.
