ARES for the Town of Babylon provides auxiliary communications as needed in times of emergency and during public events.

A.R.E.S.-Amateur Radio Emergency Services is a part of the ARRL that helps to train operators and provide operators during times of emergencies. In addition, local A.R.E.S. groups help to provide communications for walkathons, bike-a-thons, marathons and Special Olympics, just to name a few.  Most of the ARES for the Town of Babylon members are also GSBARC members.

R.A.C.E.S.- Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services is part of Civil Defense.   This group provides communication between government agencies during times of a declared emergency.

In the Long Island area, both groups work closely together. Many hams are members of both groups.

GSBARC helps to support ARES for the Town of Babylon.  GSBARC repeaters are used to support ARES for the Town of Babylon during times of emergency and public events. Also a weekly net is held on the 146.685 repeater every Monday evening at 20:15 ( 8:15 PM EST ).

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month at 20:00 ET ( 8:00 PM) in the Babylon Town Hall Emergency Operations Center. You do not have to be a member to attend these meetings.  If you would like to join or just want more information, you can come down to any meeting.
