Amateur Radio 
Special Event Station Activities

Members of Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club operate portable from locations around the community. Past operations have included AC2P/200 from Montauk Point Lighthouse in  1996 and 1997 with the Long Island DX Association. AC2P/p from "Wings Over Long Island" air show with the Islip ARES Group and Suffolk County ARES. W2GSB/p from Fire Island Lighthouse 1997 with the Islip ARES Group.  W2GSB/Lighthouse from Fire Island Lighthouse during International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend in 1998 though 2002. W4Z 1998 during the International Jewish Arts Festival of Long Island. NWS/ARRL Skywarn Recognition Day 2000 as AB2M and as K2U in 2001 and 2002. W2V at Ham Radio University of Long Island (HRU) in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Besides making contacts and meeting amateurs from around the world, these portable operations expose Amateur Radio with it's capabilities and good will to the general public. This Special Event Group also does Amateur Radio Demonstrations for various groups like the Boy Scouts and other groups.
